Your appointment is your chance to help your doctor or nurse understand how psoriasis impacts your life. You can use this time to ask questions and discuss changes to how your psoriasis is being managed. Even if you have been living psoriasis for a long time, you may be surprised to find that care and treatments have moved on and your options may be different from your first appointment.
In the video above, Gill, one of our group of people with psoriasis who created this site, talks about patient empowerment and how it can help you have better conversations with your doctor or nurse. She's joined by Dr Anthony Bewley, consultant dermatologist at Whipps Cross University Hospital. You can find out more about why being empowered is important below.
So, what can you expect? An appointment will typically last 5-10 minutes so it's really important that you make the most of your time. Preparation is crucial so that's where we're starting.
